Failed Hunt Pt. 15 - "Testing the Merchandise"
"Yeah, this one will do just fine..."

I imagine it was probably a tense moment when the big grey coloured canid first strolled up to the deer encampment, but tensions faded quickly when they noticed he lacked the distinctive reek of wolf. Though an an usual shape and size, he had only the smell of fox about him, and while foxes are oft a nuisance to the tribe they're rarely a threat... and so bartering commenced.

It's the result of that recent YCH! The deer tribe getting rid of the excess captives. Of course, nobody wants to make a big purchase without testing the merchandise first, and so they're only to happy to let their bartering partners try before they buy.

I hope you enjoy, do let me know what you think!

Oh, and if you'd like to see another one of these done from the wolf side (I imagine they're no stranger to the slave trade themselves) speak up in the comments. To say this YCH went well would be an understatement, and I could certainly see myself doing another if it's something folks would like to see...

  • We absolutely need the wolf side too, I'm sure their execution has a lot more snarling involved

Really love the addition of the gryphon being used as well
Overall great wordlbuilding so far in this series
Love the idea of these two major tribes dominating the slave market fiercely
Wonder how these slaves are integrated into their new lives tho

  • Hm, the hair highlights and bright neon colours kinda clash with the whole theme and vibe

  • That gryphon has no idea whats going on. He's just happy to be there.

    What is YCH?

Acronym of "Your Character Here". It's common type of commission where an artist will draw a incomplete scenario with a blank slate character that can be replaced with a character of the commissioner's choosing.
In some contexts the term can be used to refer to a character that is supposed to the audience/viewer in some capacity such as in various Telegram stickers, role play and audience insert prose.
