Spoors: The Mark (+3 Alts, 4 In HQ, Guide & Timelapses)
Here you go, guys, the concept that I've been working on for a while, after going through so many drafts to portray it the way I wanted it to, is finally completed! I feel that this is a broad idea in the furry community I'm interested in and would like to use it for most of my mammalia anthros in the project and in a specific manner: neck biting.
Neck biting for these anthros are almost as similar to how animals would use it, for dominance, playing, fighting, or hunting, but when it comes to a commitment created for marriage or if partners are willing to mate-for-life through unconditional love, the action involves leaving what they call the "mark". It is obtained either through a certain way of biting based on how it's approached, either by breaking through the skin or pulling fur out.
Modern marriages or similar events for these anthros have gotten past the idea of using bare teeth or pulling out fur, due to infections being the most concerned matter, and instead use certain tools to create the "mark" at the nape of the neck of their (most of the time) submissive partners or for all partners, such as stampers (for skin-breaking) or burning with needles (to prevent hair growth in a certain area).
However, those outside of societal norms who don't believe in such events or methods can also make the commitment in the traditional way by using their own teeth and in some times not at the nape of the neck. These anthros believe that the "mark" leaves more than just a stamp of their bond, but also the scent and spit that they believe is an essence which never leaves the one being marked. So if someone is looking to find a partner themselves they would be able to identify those with the "mark" from their sense of smell if unable to be seen. Sadly, it's an old practice that is not used often due to changes in time and outlooks of it, but for those who grow up in communities being taught or told about the old methods would prefer keeping the idea alive.
Ruby, having grown up in both parts of the world is flexible with however she receives it, but highly believes the more traditional way is the best way due to her mother and father having done it this way. Zeke, not living up to social norms and despises it to the fullest, would rather stick to the traditional way since he feels its a part of their nature. Like I said, everyone's got their own outlook on it, hehe.
