Dammit, these last few pages I was mentioning how it could've been mama bear, after she fought and likely killed that chaos corrupted rat. But corruption made her go crazy herself, and now I hate that I was right.

If you were trying to rest in a dangerous area and someone steals your only weapon without informing you wouldn't you be pissed off if your weapon wasn't readily available or was dulled to the point it couldn't kill in a single strike?

Yes he sent Tristan out to get firewood but you do have to remember Leo is not a smart character and probably didn't consider or care how he got it.
