    I once watched a Japanese woman on YouTube call Family Guy "American anime". You canNOT tell me anime isn't just Japanese cartoons!

    Well, she wasn't completely right, though she was probably use the term literally as anime is just slang for japanese animation. More correctly, stuff like Marvels content is American anime in terms of common styles and tropes.

    I feel like I'd trust a Japanese natives word over yours honestly.

    Why? Because they're Japanese? Ooookay. In japan, anime literally just means animation. They call old Disney movies anime. It's current definition as a specific genre with specific tropes is western-born, not Japanese, and, in fact, these terms confuse many Japanese. Yoshi-P was recently really offended when someone described FF16 as a JRPG because he always thought it was a derogatory term even though in the west it's a harmless genre category.

    Be more logical and less fanatical weeb, please. ASK WHY she called Family Guy anime--and I told you. Because to them, anime is literally animation. ANY animation.
