    Firebolt requires a ranged spell attack against a target. She could have rolled a 20 and nothing would have happend since she didnt target anything.

    Depending on the system, you can just choose to target the air if you want

    Hang on I just remembered wild magic is done when you roll a percentage die and hit within the range and then roll the effect off a d100 chart and she has done none of this. Also juat unlocked d6 in the binding of issac.

    there are some systems where you roll a d20 and if you roll a low roll you roll on the effects chart.

    Ye, you got it. In 5e, you need to roll a dice first to see if you need to roll on the chart.
