Dragon Ball Super (ドラゴンボール超スーパー Doragon Bōru Sūpā) (commonly abbreviated as DBS) is the fourth anime installment in the Dragon Ball franchise, which ran from July 5th, 2015 to March 25th, 2018. It is set after the second-to-last episode of Dragon Ball Z following the death of Kid Buu but 10 years before the 28th World Martial Arts seen in the final episode of Dragon Ball Z.

The series' first two saga's are directly adapted from the Movies Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. Following those two arcs the rest of the series has the majority of its plot outlined by series creator Akira Toriyama. Then a team of writers and animators would create the script and make slight modifications to the narrative's details wherever suitable. This lead to the creation of 3 additional and original sagas and one Anime-exclusive filler saga.

The series is divided into 6 sagas in total:
1. The God of Destruction Beerus Saga
2. The Golden Frieza Saga
3. The Universe 6 Saga
4. The Copy-Vegeta Saga
5. The "Future" Trunks Saga
6. The Universe Survivial Saga

As well two movies following the continuity of the end of the series: Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018) and the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (2022)

In addition to the Dragon Ball Super Anime, there is also a still ongoing Dragon Ball Super Manga, which was written by Toyotaro and overseen by Toriyama. The Manga deviates somewhat from the continuity of the Anime in by being more directly accurate to Toriyama's original vision and ideas for the series. Most notably in the absence of a Golden Frieza Saga and the inclusion of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga and the ongoing Granolah the Survivor Saga.

Dragon Ball Super introduced more than a hundred new characters between the Anime and Manga version.
