Boob Armor, also known as "Boob Plate" or "Breast Plate" (with a space), is a type of body armor design with a breast cavity (either as a single cavity or individual cavities for each breast), either for practical reasons, aesthetic reasons, or both. This makes the chest armor appear bigger or appear to have breasts on them.

Why Boob Armor?

• Practical Reasons:
• To accommodate/fit a character with big breasts.
• Single cavity boob armor with sloped shapes deflect blows away from the chest.
• Aesthetic Reasons:
• To signal to the audience/viewer(s) that the character is female.
• To create the illusion of having bigger breasts.
• Cultural, traditional or ceremonial reasons.
• As a costume for a cosplay or television/movie.
• To make the armor look more sexy.

Why Not Boob Armor?

• Boob armor often comes in the form of a double cupped design. This particular type of boob armor funnels blows into the sternum.
• Extra Weight - The added mass to accommodate the breasts means more weight is added to the upper body.
• Body armor with breast cavities may not be necessary if the wearer's breasts aren't that particularly large (or if they even have one at all).
