Honestly this is kinda rude to reject someone simply because you don't want their presence.

Unless the person is annoying there's 0 reasons to exclude them.

They might have regarded me as annoying, because I was the little kid following their sibling around (since we did share the same school).
They shooed me away by saying something like "Can't you find others from your own age?".

Now, years later I can see their point of view; they weren't friends with me so my presence wasn't wanted,
Back then with whoever was around, I just felt staying near my older sibling was the most logical thing to do.
Because we did spend time together at home like taking turns playing / sharing the single computer my parents had, etc.

I find this a similar situation that in the previous post of the pool, Noh (one half of the mudkip twins) is annoyed that Nah (the other half of the twins ) is spending time with their friends and not with their twin. And one of the friends saying "Do we need to hang out with her?" in this post.

From Noh's perspective I completely undestands the possible thought "Until this point we were always playing together, why did she choose to play with others? What changed?"
Instead of having a incentive to look for friends on your own.

Or the most logical thing is that the friend group wanted to do mischief but didn't want to get snitched by the lil bro.

This is probably the simplest and most logical reason.
