“Already?” I thought, feeling the telltale warmth creeping through me. My body was beginning its usual heat cycle again. “Of all the times...” I muttered under my breath, exasperated. I had known this would happen eventually—just not so soon after joining the team. But I had no choice now. Either I needed to satisfy the need or somehow push through it.Playing with myself had never been enough to quench these primal urges that visited so often. And now? Now, I was surrounded by men—although only one of them truly seemed to desire me in that way. The rest admired me, sure, calling me beautiful or gorgeous, letting their thoughts linger on fleeting fantasies. But Fox McCloud? Fox saw me as so much more. Ever since he’d found me on Sauria, I’d felt the depth of his emotions: his passion, his lust, and, most intoxicating of all, his protective instinct. Those feelings radiated from every glance he gave me, and they stirred something deep inside me. Something that reciprocated.
I was lost in thought when I felt him nearby—his presence unmistakable even through the walls of my room. His quarters were adjacent to mine, and I could hear his footsteps retreating as he headed off to rest. If I was going to act, this was the time.
My heart raced as I crossed the room, my decision already made. Without hesitation, I stripped off my clothes, the cool air brushing against my bare skin. I pressed the side panel, and the door hissed open, revealing me to the corridor—and to Fox.
He stopped mid-step, glancing toward the sound. His gaze snapped to me, then widened in disbelief as his brain registered what he was seeing. The emotions that surged from him were like a flood—shock, desire, excitement—all pouring into my mind in a dizzying rush that made my breath hitch.
“Krystal?!” he managed, his voice catching in his throat.
I smiled, letting the corner of my lips curl into a knowing smirk. “Heading to bed, McCloud? By yourself? That’s far too dangerous. I’m coming with you.”
