Eh, I didn't comment on it because I preferred the other ideas posted. Not to say its a bad idea, reddit uses that same system and it works well enough, but here's why its not my first choice.
Admins have avatars that seem to change rarely, so once you learn who they are its usually easy to spot them, but on reddit that's not the case so they NEED a way to get attention. It looks like they can already toggle a 'serious mode' and make themselves very noticeable by changing their own text using color and font size whenever they feel like, as husky demonstrated. Furthermore I don't think that admins need to have to remember to switch on their serious mode, they should just always be slightly more noticeable.
